When you find yourself in any kind of situation, your brain decides how to react. If it repeats that decision several times, that behavior becomes the standard solution for the problem — a habit.
Why does this happen? Because your brain is always trying to find the most efficient way, in terms of cognitive load, to solve a situation. Everything that becomes habitual and automatic decreases that load and stress.

According to James Clear, author of the book Atomic Habits, the brain works by absorbing, analyzing, and acknowledging repetitive experiences. Repeated experiences culminate in a habit, so you need to make the path you want to follow as obvious as you can.

Take advantage of your brain’s reward system. Make the experience as rewarding as you can so that you receive the dopamine hit associated. The more attractive it is to perform, the easier it is to become a habit.
